A Lesson From Nathan That Could Change Your Life

This week’s ‘Points of Life’ comes to you from my 5-year-old son Nathan.  Many times, he, or my daughter Anna, are the inspiration for the story, but today, it’s all him.

Yesterday, I asked Nathan which movie he liked better:  “Planes” or “Planes: Fire and Rescue.”

His response was a question.

“Daddy, remember how God came to save us?”

“Yes buddy,” I replied, not quite sure where he was going with this train of thought.

“Well I like “Planes: Fire and Rescue” better, because Dusty goes to save those people on the bridge from the fire, and since God came to save us, that’s my favorite.”

1 Peter 3:15 echoes Nathan’s sentiments.  “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”

Nathan was ready.  His heart was filled with gentleness and respect.  For followers of Jesus, we need to be ready to give an answer, and willing to gently steer conversations towards heavenly things.  Who else is going to start conversations about Jesus, with those who don’t go to church or have Christian friends in their lives?

It’s up to us to always be on the lookout!

And if you haven’t started a personal relationship with God.  Nathan has a message for you as well.  “God came to save us.”  He came to save you!
I’d love to share more with you about what this relationship looks like.  Email me if you’re ready to start.  It’s a decision you will never regret!
