Burning Fire

The last two nights, we have lit up the fire pit out back and celebrated the end of summer and beginning of fall as we transition into one of my favorite times of year!
At the end of last night, I couldn’t help but stare at the burning embers underneath the dark wood.  They glowed so brightly.  They gave off so much light.  The were full of life (see attached pictures).
Immediately, my eyes began to water.  This was a perfect picture of what God is doing in our schools.  He has placed Christian students and coaches in the halls of every school TV-44 covers!  Quarterbacks in the MAC and WBL.  A Linebacker for a state champion.  Volleyball leaders in every league.  Playoff Coaches.
They are all burning embers.  And even though there is darkness all around them, they allow God’s light to shine through it all.  Even though there is the soot and debris left by sin, children of the King are allowing God to make something new through their flames.
This inspires me! I hope it inspires you as well.  Let’s make Revelation 3:15-16 our reminder to stay on fire for God.
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. 16‘So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth”
Be white-hot embers in this dark and decaying world!!!
