Jimmy Brown

I got a message in the 2nd half of the Cavs game last night that made my heart drop.  A good friend of mine was letting me know that McComb grad Jimmy Brown died earlier that day at work.  He was 20 years old.

He described Jimmy, the way I often heard him described during his playing days on the Panthers football team – as Jerry’s twin brother.  Jerry Brown was one of the best high school football players I have ever witnessed.  Everyone knew what Jerry could do.  Everyone watched in amazement.  That often left Jimmy overshadowed – as Jerry’s twin.

One picture posted on twitter last night showed that Jimmy was as much a part of those McComb football teams, and all their wins, as his twin.

That picture made me remember Jimmy’s playing days at McComb.

But a tweet posted by Jimmy the day before he died will help me to remember him a lot longer.  For a lifetime.

God has a plan. He has your life blueprint. The only way your going to live it is if you put 100% of your faith and trust in him

I can’t help but think of the words from 2 Timothy 4:6-7  “and the time of my departure has come. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.”

I’ll remember Jimmy Brown.  In his final days, he left a legacy.  A legacy that pointed everyone who was following Him, straight to his heavenly Father.
