It’s been a rough couple months in the Lynch household. All four of us have been sick, multiple times in the first two months of 2017 and just when we thought we were turning the corner, our son, Nathan woke up with a temperature of 103 degrees today. He rested and drank water and got medicine and had the temperature back down by lunchtime, but as he goes to bed tonight, it’s at 102 again. Would you pray for him?
I know I have been. And in my prayers for my son, I am reminded of how my Father in Heaven feels about me. I remind God how much we love that little boy and how much Nathan loves his Father in Heaven too. I quote the promises of scripture about God giving Nathan a hope and a future if he trusts in Him with all his heart, cause he does. But there are kids playing outside and he is not. Nathan had Awana tonight and has basketball tomorrow and neither activity looks promising. If only he could be rid of this sickness.
My heart’s desire for my son to be well, is a glimpse of our Father’s desire for us to be well.
After all, we are made in the image of God. It says so way back at the beginning in Genesis 1:27.
And I am learning that part of that image is to love our kids with a love we didn’t know existed, until they came around.
And all of His image is centered on loving His creations, as stubborn, and selfish and unfaithful as we may be.
I’m reminded tonight, how much God, our Father, still pursues us. It’s becoming one of my favorite passages of the school year, penned by the hand of King David.
“Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:6, NLT)
Do you know your Father pursues you? Do me a favor. Right now, before you do anything else, talk to Him. He wants to know how your feeling. He just wants to be a part of your life, and to show you the best pathway possible. I bet it will make you feel a whole lot better too.
