Putnam County Elevate 2019 showcases employers and the wealth of talent in the greater Putnam County region. Elevate is one part of Putnam County’s workforce development plan.
40 employers from Putnam, Allen, Hancock and Auglaize counties will be at Elevate.
Adult Employment Opportunities
Elevate is free and open to adults all day, 8:30 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Attendees should multiple copies of their resume and be prepared to complete applications. Some employers will also interview on site.
Student Employment & Training Opportunities
High school age students can connect with employers about current job openings and learn about the type of future jobs that will be in demand in the Putnam County region.
Students and their parents can visit the Putnam County Ohio Means Jobs booth in the gymnasium. There will be applications from dozens of local employers looking for workers. They can also learn about job training available in Putnam County.
College students can seek internships and co-ops.
Parents, this is the perfect opportunity for you and your child to talk with staff from the career centers serving Putnam County students. They love meeting students who are in junior high or freshman year of high school. Learn what programs are offered, how to earn high school and college credit and be job-ready before graduating.
Career Exploration Component
Students from all nine Putnam County high schools will attend Elevate during the school day. Part of their time will be spent on career exploration. Prior to attending, high school students worked with their school guidance counselor and teachers to identify their top three career interests. These responses were tallied to identify the top 25 careers sought by future workers in Putnam County. Professionals working in these 25 career areas will spend the day leading Career Conversation Tables to engage students in learning about the skills, on the job training, credentials and education required for employment in that field.
Students and professionals will discuss things students can do while still in high school to begin their career pathway. They will also learn about volunteer, job shadow and mentoring opportunities.
