The Riley Creek United Methodist Church at 7102 Road M, Ottawa  OH  45875 will be celebrating a new addition to their historic country church.  The public is invited to attend the celebration on Sunday, August 18.  There will be a Celebration and Recognition Service at 4:00 p.m. and a picnic potluck at 6:00 p.m.

The third Sunday in August has regularly been a time for a church picnic at the Riley Creek United Methodist Church.  This year we are continuing that tradition and adding a Celebration and Recognition Service for our building project.

This church has been one room, without plumbing or running water since 1882.  We broke ground for the new building addition in October.  We have watched the addition to this historic, country church that includes restrooms, a kitchen, air conditioning, a utility room, and a fellowship hall.  All parts of the new building are fully ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant for people with handicapping conditions.  Members, family and friends of the church look forward to the many opportunities for serving others and outreach that these new facilities will make possible.

So many have contributed to this ambitious project and we are eager to acknowledge as many as possible.  Some of those being recognized for their part are: Keith Seitz – initial design, Joe Hermiller – Architect, Greg Bockrath/Bockrath & Associates – Septic system, Benchmark Drilling/Brad Stoepfel – Well, North West Plains District/Rev. Barry Burns and District Trustees – Building grant, Steve Benson/National Lime and Stone – Stone, gravel, and property sale; Workers who stepped to the plate and assisted: Jack Hawks – cabinets & trim, Dan Stechschulte – dry wall and wall priming, Isaac Stechschulte – blown insulation in the attic, Bob Blank – hanging drywall (volunteer).
